Privacy policy
Last updated 14 October 2026
The short version
- We only collect what you type into our forms, or send us by email.
- We use it to reply to you, to talk about your project, or to tell you when an app is ready.
- It's stored with Netlify, who host this website, and in our Microsoft 365 email.
- We don't sell it. This site has no cookies, tracking or adverts.
- Email cannden@therunitapp.com and we'll delete it.
Who we are
This website is run by Avela Tech Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17379769). Our registered office is 124-128 City Road, London, England, EC1V 2NX.
We decide what happens to the information you send us, which makes us the data controller under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). For anything about your information, email cannden@therunitapp.com.
What we collect
Only what you give us, through the forms on this site or by email.
- Contact form: your name, email address and message, and that you agreed to this policy.
- Brief form (on the Custom builds page): your name, business name and email address, your phone number if you give it, the type of business, what's done the old way now, what you'd want an app to do, your budget, when you need it, how you heard about us if you say, and that you agreed to this policy.
- App waitlists (on the Apps page): your email address, your business name if you give it, and which app you're waiting for.
- Emails you send us: whatever you choose to put in them.
When you visit the site, Netlify, the company that hosts it, handles technical details such as your IP address and the type of browser you use. It needs these to send you the pages and keep the site secure. We don't use them to work out who you are.
Why we use it
We only use your information for the reason you gave it to us. The law asks us to name a lawful basis for each use, so here they are in plain words.
- To reply to a message. You've asked us something and we want to answer. This is our legitimate interest.
- To look at your brief, book a Zoom call and quote for the work. You've asked us to, before any agreement. If we then work together, we use it to do the work under our contract with you.
- To tell you when an app you're waiting for is ready. You gave your consent by joining the waitlist. You can take it back at any time by emailing us.
- To keep the site and its forms working and free of spam. This is our legitimate interest.
We won't add you to a mailing list, and we won't send you marketing you haven't asked for.
Where it's stored, and who else handles it
We use a few services to run the site and our email. They handle your information for us, under terms that require them to keep it safe.
- Netlify hosts this website, and receives and stores what you send through our forms. Netlify, Inc. is based in the United States. It protects information sent from the UK using the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.
- Akismet. Netlify checks every form submission for spam using a service called Akismet, run by Automattic, so your submission is passed to Akismet for that check.
- Microsoft 365 runs our email. We get a copy of each form submission by email and reply from there. Microsoft stores it under its own data protection terms, which cover any transfer outside the UK.
- Zoom. If we book a call with you, Zoom runs it, under its own privacy policy.
We don't share your information with anyone else, unless the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
- Contact messages: 12 months after our last reply, then deleted.
- Briefs that don't turn into a project: 12 months, then deleted.
- If we work together: for as long as we work together, then 6 years, because HMRC asks businesses to keep tax records for that long.
- Waitlist sign-ups: until we've emailed you to say the app is ready, then deleted.
- Technical details from visits: kept by Netlify for a short time, under its own policy.
If you ask us to delete something sooner, we will, unless the law says we have to keep it.
We don't sell your information
We don't sell, rent or trade your information to anyone, and we don't use it for advertising.
Cookies
This site doesn't use cookies. There's no analytics, tracking or advertising, which is why you haven't been asked about cookies.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you can ask us to:
- show you the information we hold about you
- correct anything that's wrong
- delete it
- stop or limit how we use it
- give you a copy to take somewhere else
If you joined a waitlist, you can also take back your consent at any time.
To do any of these, email cannden@therunitapp.com. It's free. We'll reply within one month, and we may ask you to confirm who you are first.
How to have your information deleted
Email cannden@therunitapp.com from the address you used, and say what you'd like deleted. We'll delete it from Netlify and from our inbox, and email you once it's done.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, tell us first and we'll try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Other websites
Some links take you to other sites, such as the Run It app. They have their own privacy policies, and this one doesn't cover them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
